Jason D. Smith

Jason D. Smith was born in Grove Hill, Alabama and has been with the firm since his admission to the bar in 1999. Jason graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, magna cum laude, and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1999. Jason is a member of the Mobile Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar. His practice is primarily concentrated in the areas of real estate, title insurance, mortgage banking, business formations and civil litigation.

During his career, Jason has handled thousands of real estate closings ranging from standard residential sales to complex commercial transactions. He regularly advises clients on commercial projects of all sizes from concept to reality, and his practice has increasingly grown to represent clients in hotel acquisitions and sales across the Southeast. Jason has also built a strong practice in the area of homeowner’s association matters, currently representing close to a hundred such clients. Jason’s litigation practice focuses primarily on landlord-tenant matters, litigation to clear title to real property and sales for division of jointly owned real property. In addition, a significant portion of his time is devoted to the representation of numerous banks in the area, concentrating on loan documentation for commercial loan closings. Jason holds an AV® Peer Rating in Martindale-Hubbell and is a Fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys.

Jason currently serves on the Board of Directors of the South Alabama Volunteer Lawyers Program and is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Mobile Botanical Gardens. He and his wife, Carolyn Watts-Smith, and their daughter Sadie, attend Trinity Episcopal Church where Carolyn volunteers in many roles including acting as coordinator of the food pantry outreach program.
